Vale's Educational Trust
is a private, chartable and educational organisation established in
1992. The Trust was founded by Dr. Ishari K. Ganesh, M.Com., B.L.,
Ph.D, M.B.A., a visionary and an eminent educationist, in fond memory
of his reserved father Thiru Ishari D. Velan, who was a member
, Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly, Deputy Minister, Government of Tami
Nadu and a well known Cine Artiste.
The main objectives of the Trust are
To stress the need for job oriented education
To inculcate self - reliance in the young minds and
To prepare the younger generation for a better future and stimulate
intellectual response to challenges.
The Trust started the Vel 's College of Arts & Science in the year
1993 with a view to contribute its mite of providing excellent educational
facilities for the young and aspiring students. Periodical guest lectures
by renowned personalities in the respective fields are organized frequently
to help the students in updating their knowledge
Keeping with this magnificent maritime history and heritage, Vale's
Educational Trust - privately run, non-profit, charitable organization
established Vel's Academy of Maritime Studies to offer a B.Sc.
degree in Nautical of maritime related courses to placed the Indian
mariner right on top.

Laboratories
Well equipped laboratory facilities are provided as per the educational
regulations laid down by the Pharmacy Council of India and the All
India Council for Technical Education.
Physical Education: The institution has a vast and well laid out track
and facilities are offered for all the indoor games in which students
are trained by a qualified Physical Director and his team of assistants.
Students are encouraged to participate in various intercollegiate
competitions where by they are given a chance to exhibit their talents
and win medals and trophies.
Library: The library at Vel 's is been aesthetically designed
to cater to the large number of students and staff. It is well furnished
in conformity with modern library standards.The carefully chosen collection
in the library consists of (a) Books which relate directly to subjects
in the Curriculum of the various courses (b) Books which deal with
related topics or allied fields of study in the Curriculum (c) Reference
books which include dictionaries, encyclopedias, years books, atlases
etc. (d) Selected books of general interest of collateral, extra -
curricular or recreational reading and (e) the learned, scientific
and popular periodicals.
Transportation: Pallavaram is well connected by local electric train network and
City Transport Corporation buses. College Bus is available from the
Pallavaram Railway Station to the campus and vice versa at nominal
rate. Vanes are available for Vel's Vidyashram children with different
boarding points according to the convenience of their parents.
Hostel:
The Institution has hostels for men and women separately in permanent
buildings for the convenience of outstation students. The room rent
and establishment charges will be fixed reasonably by the management.
Arrangements have been made for washing cloths which are to be collected
and delivered periodically at the student's expenses. Medical and
hospital facilities are available at pallavaram itself and the cost
of the same would have to be met by the students. Mess and Canteen
facility is available for the inmates at reasonable rates.

Full-fledged Placement activities are done at Vel's Group
of Educational Institutions, with a centralized placement cell. Training
Programmes on Soft Skills are also imparted on a regular basis, thus
moulding the students to face the present recruitment processes.
Average Placement every year is 50% before passing out and more than
90% within 3 months after completion.
Reputed corporate visit Vel's Campus every year for recruitment. Major
Companies visited during 2005 - 2006 are K-LINE Shipping,
ANGLO-EASTERN Shipping, TANKER PACIFIC, Taj Group of Hotels, Oberoi
