Nine colleges seek AU-T affiliation
- University in the process of conducting inspections
- Core engineering programmes avoided
Tiruchi: Nine new colleges have sought affiliation from the
Anna University – Tiruchi (AU-T) for offering Engineering
and Management programmes. The university is in the process
of conducting inspections, it is learnt.
Two colleges _ Hallmark Business School at Keelavasavariyapuram
in Tiruchi district and Dhanalakshmi Institute of Management
in Perambalur _ have sought affiliation for offering MBA and
the rest are engineering colleges.
Barring one, the remaining new engineering colleges are learnt
to have avoided offering core engineering programmes. Mechanical
Engineering has found favour with only one college: M.A.R. College
of Engineering at Viralimalai in Pudukottai district. The other
branches offered here are B.E. in Information Technology, Computer
Science and Engineering, and Electronics and Communication Engineering.
The remaining six colleges have confined their programmes to
the above three branches in addition to Electrical and Electronics
Engineering.
These colleges are Indira Ganesan College of Engineering. Madurai
Main Road, Manikandam, Tiruchi; Chendhuran College of Engineering
and Technology, Lenavilakku, Pulivalam, Thirumayam Taluk, Pudukottai;
MAM College of Engineering and Technology, Siruganur, Tiruchi;
N.P.R. College of Engineering and Technology at Natham in Dindigul
district; Parisutham Institute of Technology and Science at
Kamaraj Nagar near Nanjikottai in Thanjavur district, and Ramakrishna
College of Engineering, Samayapuram.
In the event of the new colleges securing university affiliation,
the number of colleges in the varsity’s fold will rise
from 51 to over 65.
