Fee up for management quota seats in self-financing engineering colleges

Chennai: The Balasubramanian committee has recommended Rs.62,500 as the annual fee students admitted under management quota seats to self-financing engineering colleges in the State.

A release issued here on Thursday stated that there was no change in fee for any other category of students.

Self-financing engineering colleges have agreed to abide by last year’s admission procedure — 65 per cent of the seats will be filled from the government single window quota and the remaining by managements. In the case of minority institutions, this formula will be 50: 50 — the government and the college management will fill equal number of seats.

The fee for non-accredited courses in the colleges will remain at Rs.32,500 per annum. For accredited courses, it will be Rs.40,000 each year.

The N.V. Balasubramanian committee held detailed discussions with various stake holders before arriving at the decision, the release added.
