Twen ty five students will be chosen for the programme on the basis of their TANCET performance, vice-chancellor V. Ramachandran said.

The university has been offering six postgraduate engineering programmes: M.E. in Pervasive Computing Technologies; Software Engineering; Energy Engineering, and Computer Science and Engineering, and M. Programmes for faculty
For the seven PG programmes that it offers for faculty members of affiliated colleges through Modular-Based Credit Banking Scheme, 110 teachers have enrolled this year. Last year, the enrolment was 165. The university’s subsequent focus will be on facilitating all faculty members of affiliated colleges to obtain Ph.D, said Dr. Ramachandran.

Broadband connectivity
Eleven affiliated colleges have acquired 8 MBPS (mega bits per second) connectivity so far at the initiative of the university. BSNL is the service provider. The university is confident that other colleges would also follow suit once it starts providing study materials through the web. Besides facilitating e-governance, video-conferencing, video-streaming of lectures and conduct of online examinations, the high-end connectivity will help colleges to start digital libraries and host their own websites.

There are at present 51 affiliated colleges in AU-T fold. The number is expected to increase to 62 during this academic year with the addition of four constituent units and new self-financing institutions, Dr. Ramachandran said.
