Unaffiliated colleges warned of strict action
Coimbatore: Colleges functioning without affiliation will be
penalised, Vice-Chancellor of Bharathiar University G. Thiruvasagam
told a press conference here on Thursday.
“Parents admitting their wards to colleges should check
the university website to find out whether the college has affiliation
or not. There are some colleges releasing advertisements calling
for admissions without getting affiliation from the university.
Students studying in such institutions will not be recognised
by the university,” the Vice-Chancellor cautioned.
He also said that some colleges were offering courses without
getting continuous affiliation every year. “They have
to apply for continuous affiliation till they get permanent
affiliation.”
He warned, of serious action if the inspection committee of
the university found such anomalies. “Kumudha College
in Gobichettipalayam has been backlisted by the university.
If complaints are received about other colleges, the inspection
committee will visit those colleges too and necessary action
will be initiated.”
If such colleges continued to function in such a fashion, he
would arrange for publishing the names of the colleges in all
the newspapers, he added.
Colleges seeking additional seats would have to apply to the
university with four certificates.
