Varsity goes for e-governance

Thanjavur: Tamil University here has gone for e-governance from Wednesday, according to M. Rajendran, Vice-Chancellor.

National Informatics Centre has taken up the installation of e-governance facilities.
According to G. Chakrapani, technical director, NIC, e-governance will ensure automation of routine work, reduce drudgery, make file management efficient, easy handling of personal register, prioritisation of work, provision of inter-departmental co-ordination etc.

State government has decided to implement e-governance in various departments at the secretariat and in districts. Accordingly e-governance i.e., paperless administration is in vogue in Thiruvallur, Kanyakumari and Sivaganga districts.

The Vice-Chancellor Dr. Rajendran also evinced interest in E-governance, Mr. Chakarapani said.
