Varsities sign MoU

Joint research activities will be taken up


Thanjavur: Tamil University here and the University of Yaounde II of Cameroon have signed a Memorandum of Understanding for academic cooperation.

The MoU was signed by M. Rajendran, Vice-Chancellor, Tamil University, and Pr. Jean Tabi Manga, Vice-Chancellor of University of Yaounde II, here on Wednesday.
The two Vice-Chancellors said that there would be exchange of visits between the two universities by students, academic and administrative staff. Joint research activities would be taken up.

There would be collaborative professional development, exchange of publications, reports and other academic materials and information.

Dr. Rajendran said that the Tamil University has earlier signed MoU with Kannada, Dravidiana and Telugu Universities, Sri Lanka University and University of Malay, Kualalampur.

Under MoU signed with Malay University, training programmes were conducted for teachers of Malaysia in Sangam literature.

Mr. Manga said that the University of Yaounde II has 40,000 students. It is a digital campus with students having smart cards.

The finger prints would be tested at the time of examination and students cannot indulge in malpractices. He said that he was happy to be in this ‘magnificent town’ of Thanjavur and sign an MoU with a remarkable institution.

“Our University (Yaounde II) offers courses in social sciences, law, political science, economics, mass communication and journalism, international relations, demographic studies etc”, he added.
