Medical college awaiting approval
Chennai: The Medical Council of India has not granted approval this year for
Dharmapuri Medical College, which admitted its first batch of students last year.
However, Tamil Nadu Health Department officials said that there was no cause for worry as they had made a representation to the MCI and the Centre to grant approval. The State had undertaken to complete all works by August this year, before the entry of the new batch of students, and authorities are hopeful that MCI would grant approval.
A three-member team from the MCI met officials of the Directorate of Medical Education and the Health Department here. They will also meet representatives of the two colleges that were recently in the news for charging capitation fee for MBBS seats.
