Medical college fees: panel for status quo

Chennai: The Justice N.V.Balasubramanian Committee, which went into the issue of fixing fees for the government quota seats in private medical colleges, has called for maintaining the status quo.

There will be no change from last year in fees to be charged from students of the State government quota in the four private medical colleges: Adi Parasakthi Medical College, Melmaruvathur (Rs.2.5 lakh); PSG Medical College, Coimbatore (Rs.2.25 lakh); Sree Mookambika Medical College, Kanyakumari (Rs.2.30 lakh); and IRT, Perundurai (Rs.1.30 lakh).
The committee has also recommended that this fee structure be followed for the management quota in medical colleges.
