Counselling for courses begins at TNAU
Coimbatore: Counselling for admission to undergraduate courses under the single window system began at Tamil Nadu Agricultural University on Tuesday and will go on till Sunday.
Nearly 7,000 candidates have applied for courses in 12 disciplines, against 3,600 last year.
The university shortlisted candidates based on the cut-off mark as per the aggregate obtained in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry and Biology in the Plus Two examinations, K. Vanangamudi, Dean (Agriculture), said.
Those with cut-off marks from 199 to 189 and 188.75 to 184.25 were called for counselling on the first day in the forenoon and afternoon sessions.
Last year’s cut-off mark started at 198.25. The first three toppers were girls. G. Giridharalakshmi (198) opted for B. Sc. Agriculture. The second topper, Priyadarshini Ravindran (197.75), chose B. Tech. (Biotechnology), while R. Divyabharathi (196.75) opted for B. Tech. (Energy and Environmental Engineering). Vice-Chancellor P. Murugesa Boopathy handed over the admission cards to a few toppers.
The most favoured courses on day one were B. Sc. Agriculture (54 seats) and B. Tech. Biotechnology (41 seats).The second phase of counselling will be held on July 7.
