Asan Memorial College of Engineering
& Technology has been established in 2002 in recognition
of the vital need to develop competent engineering professional
and techno - managerial personal to meet the growing needs
of the country. The college is located in the adjoining
villages of thandarai and keerapakkam, 9kms. From chengelpet
town on chengelpet - Mahabalipuram Road. The college campus
spread over 42 acres of land with picturesque hills and
valleys forming a backdrop provides an ideal and healthy
setting for and living. The college established as a co-educational
institution has been approved by AICTE New Delhi and affiliated
to Anna University.
MISSION
The mission of the college is to achieve excellence through high quality and need
based education with focus excellence through high quality and need
based education with focus on superior technical competence and development
of individual potemtial. The courses offered will be contemporary
in nature and directly relevant to the emerging technological and
market scenario. The college will provide a conducive and stimulating
environment which will lead to academic excellence, character formation
and development of individual talents and abilities.
AIMS
The college aims at developing as a centre of Excellence in engineering education,
both at the basic and advanced levels. The college has initially identified
the emerging areas of computer Engineering, Information Technology
and other related disciplines for major focus. In tune with this,
the college is offering BE / B.Tech.
The college will, in subsequent years commence courses in the traditional
engineering branches and also in new emerging engineering disciplines.
The college will also offer post - graduate courses in techno-managerial
subjects in addition to engineering disciplines. The college further
aims at establishing as a centre for research, Training and consultancy
in techno- managerial areas in collaboration with national / international
institutions.

All the infrastructure facilities including the master plan for the campus
have been designed and developed by renowned Architects & Engineers.
The buildings have been constructed with the highest quality standards
using the best materials to make the facilities most modern, aesthetic,
comfortable and convenient for the users.
Basic Sciences Block: This block with an area of nearly 26000
sq.ft. spread over three floors accommodates all the basic facilities
for the first year engineering courses. This includes chemistry and
physics labs, engineering drawing hall, computer lab, class rooms,
tutorial rooms, department library, staff rooms, students common room
etc. All the laboratories have been well equipped with the latest
systems and equipments as per Anna University Syllabus.
Computer and Mechanical Engineering Block: This block with
an area of nearly 40,000 sq.ft. will be completed by early 2003 which
will accommodate all the laboratories, class rooms, staff rooms and
other facilities required for both the streams of
Electrical, Electronics and Communication Engineering Block:
This block with an area of nearly 30,000 Sq.ft will be completed by
early 2003 which will accommodate all the laboratories class rooms
staff rooms and other facilities required for both the streams of
i. Electrical and Electronics Engineering ii. Electronics and Communication
Engineering
Engineering Workshop: This workshop has an area of nearly 7000 sq.ft with
modern equipments and facilities required for practice session in
fitting, capacity, sheet metal, welding, foundry and smithy.
Library: The Central Library with area of over 10000 sq.ft. provides for large
reading rooms, magazine section, stack area, seminar room and CD library.
The Principal's office is also located on the ground floor of the
Library Block, close the entrance lounge.
Hostel: Separate hostels have been provided for boys and girls
within the campus. The ideas of hostel rooms and facilities incorporates
latest ideas and tested concepts with provision for natural lighting,
wide corridors and open areas ensuring good ventilation for healthy
living.
All the student rooms are spacious with three seated accommodation,
having almost independent and exclusive living and study areas for each
inmate. A separate dining and reception block including a centralized
kitchen with an area of over 7,500 sq.ft has been capacity for 250 students
dining and recreation halls besides a pantry and exclusive facilities
and outdoor games.
